The Cour des comptes will control the funds raised for the rebuilding of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris

COUR DES COMPTES

The Cour des comptes, France’s supreme audit institution, will start to control the fundraising, the management of the raised funds and their use in the rebuilding of Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris. This control will last until the end of the reconstruction and lead to a yearly report.

The Notre-Dame fire aroused great emotion in France and throughout the globe. This emotion led to a vast influx of money, spontaneously given or raised by public appeal to generosity.

The rebuilding of Notre-Dame will require a vast amount of public and private money.

The great amount of money involved, the symbolic dimension of this operation and the fiscal impact of the donations require that the fundraising, the use of the money and the management of the rebuilding operations come under close scrutiny and are fully transparent.

Without any delay, the First president of the French Cour des comptes has decided to schedule, as of 2019, the control of the administrations and of the private organisms involved in the fundraising, the management of the funds and the rebuilding of Notre-Dame.

The Cour des comptes will issue a yearly report.
